Climbing
The right technique saves energy on the climb. To that end, going uphill with touring skis works a little differently than on foot. Basic tips for body posture, when to use risers on your heels, binding details, and a step-by-step description of kick turns means the next uphill is a piece of cake:
Descending
So, you’ve conquered the climb and now comes your reward: Before you head back to the valley a little conversion is demanded: Skins are removed, and the ski touring boots and pin bindings are readjusted for the descent. Schorsch discusses in the video what you need to pay attention to, so no ski takes off down the hill prematurely and how to really enjoy the descent:
Preparation
Before heading out, your equipment must be ready to go. Transitioning, climbing mode, and setting the proper pole length, as well as stepping into pin bindings are all a part of it.
